Applying for accreditation

Preparing for accreditation

In order to be accredited, an organisation will have to satisfy the Respect assessors that they have satisfied the requirements of the Accreditation Standard. Before applying, any organisation considering whether or not they are ready for accreditation should consider using the self assessment workbook (link below) which will help you to assess how close you are to fulfilling the requirements.

Applying for accreditation

If you are considering applying or are ready to apply, download the application pack and read through everything carefully. You will need to complete the application forms, provide contact details of the member of staff identified as liaison person for the accreditation process, complete the readiness checklist and the desk top review list. You will also need to be able to supply all the documents necessary for the desk top review. Each organisation will fulfil the desk top review in different ways – you may have some documents which fulfil several requirements. This is why you have to complete the desk top review form as well as the application form, so that Respect assessors can identify the documents you are sending and so that you can check you are fulfilling all the requirements.

Preparing for assessment

Many organisations will benefit from having a review of their accreditation readiness from one of the assessors.  This can save an organisation time and money and provide a clear pathway to become accredited.  The document below contains email addresses for the assessors.  Please email membership.respect@respect.uk.net for assessors' details if you think you would like to arrange this type of support and guidance directly with an assessor.

Recording groups with men

There are various pre-requisites for applying for accreditation - you will find a checklist of these in the self assessment workbook above. A crucial one is having 6 months’ worth of recordings of all the groups you are running with men who have used violence. We will be watching a sample of these recordings as a key part of the assessment process and the Standard also requires that these recordings are used as part of monitoring and supervision.

If you are not doing so already, you should start to record all groups as soon as possible, even if you are not sure when you will be ready for accreditation. We know that this may be a challenge - below is a link to some guidance about what you need to do and what you may want to bear in mind.
