It includes an electronic version of the CAADA RIC, a suitability assessment tool (developed by Calvin Bell) and outcome measurement (developed with Russell and Rebecca Dobash), as well as client information pages and space to record client work in real time and at speed. This allows for accurate measurement of the total amount of time needed to work with and on behalf of clients, monitoring workload, measuring group participation as well as reductions in violence and risk. Please note: you need to bring your own laptop and it has to be PAT tested if you attend the York training (venue requirement).

The Fundamentals of Expert Domestic Violence Risk Assessment
A one-day course for anyone wanting to gain a better understanding of what is involved in the preparation of an expert domestic violence risk assessment for the family courts in private law proceedings, especially those who are considering undergoing training to take on such assessments. The demand for this vital work is increasingly outstripping the supply of suitable assessors, a concern that Respect would like to address. Calvin Bell has developed a well-earned reputation over many years in this area of work; he will give an overview of what this work involves, the limitations of risk assessment technology, and the skills and knowledge required of experts.
This introductory day will be followed by an intensive 10-day training course (in two five-day blocks) aimed at professionals with at least a first degree and with previous experience in the domestic abuse field, who wish to undertake expert witness work. The full course will equip participants to deliver expert assessments based upon ‘structured professional judgment', using The Domestic Violence Risk Assessment Framework.
Trainer: Calvin Bell
Cost: £100 Respect members, £130 non-members
