Check-ins and time management
Delivering the content of weekly groupwork sessions whilst keeping participants engaged and on track can be challenging.
The need to balance time constraints - whilst also ensuring that no one is left behind, rushed or overlooked - can be difficult.
Facilitators of perpetrator groupwork understand the importance of settling the group and engaging in dialogue as quickly as possible. The propensity, however, to hold extended check-ins can be problematic, and clients can be disruptive or dominating.
This practice development session will help practitioners:
- identify the reasons why time management of check-in sessions can be challenging
explore ways to manage time effectively - consider a range of check-in processes to ensure anything important or relevant to risk is brought to the group
- keep participants engaged and focused on the session topic.
