What is the Respect Male Victims’ Standard?

To be safe and effective, services supporting male victims of domestic abuse must prioritise the victims’ safety, wellbeing and freedom in their work. The Respect Male Victims’ Standard is a quality assurance framework that helps to assess whether this is the case. Where services are delivering on the principles set out in the Standard, male victims can be confident they are providing a safe and effective service.

The Standard assesses services in a number of areas including governance and management; intervention delivery; diversity and access; and multiagency work. All Respect-accredited services working with male victims are held to this Standard to ensure that only safe, effective work with male victims of domestic abuse takes place. 

All accredited services are required to apply for a new accreditation assessment every 3 years, and a service can only be considered “accredited” when it has passed its accreditation assessment.

How to apply for accreditation

If you would like to apply for accreditation on behalf of your service, we recommend reading our Readiness Checklist, which helps you check whether you are ready to apply for assessment.

Respect members receive a reduced fee of £2,075 excl. VAT for accreditation assessment. For non-members, assessment costs £2,490 excl. VAT. Become a member today to receive the discount.
