Kandis joined Respect in September 2022 as a Safe and Together Implementation Lead.

Kandis began her career in the domestic abuse sector in 2014 as a volunteer, advocating for those impacted by crime. After progressing to the position of Service Delivery Assistant where she assisted in the management of volunteers, she quickly learned her passion lay with supporting survivors of domestic abuse. She has not looked back since! She went on to become a Domestic Abuse Case Worker and then transitioned into a Refuge Worker, often providing night support for a Complex Needs Refuge. Alongside her work as a Refuge Worker, Kandis gained a certificate in Counselling Skills.

In 2017 Kandis obtained her DAPA (Domestic Abuse Prevention Advocate) accreditation which led to her work as a MASH IDVA, where she provided one to one case consultations to social workers embedded within a London based MASH team. Kandis was an early member of a local authorities Daily Safeguarding Meeting model where she represented survivors of domestic abuse and contributed to action planning alongside partner agencies to improve survivor safety, whilst ensuring the survivors voice was at the centre of all coordinated response. Kandis has provided training and delivered a bespoke Domestic Abuse Awareness programme to a residential mother and baby unit.
Kandis’s last role involved her providing crisis intervention as an IDVA in a London local authority.
