Since the 1st of July, 60% of the professionals that reached out to the webchat for help and resources came from children’s social care.
Following their use of the service, professionals were asked to fill out a service, and while there hasn’t been a large amount of responses to the survey just yet, all comments have been positive.
“I would now feel confident in continuing to contact this service for advice, as my support of the family continues,” A social worker from Newcastle said. “This is the kind of support service that has been needed for a long time and I will be highlighting to my team how useful it has been.”
While many talks on the webchat were initially about local provisions for perpetrators of domestic abuse, it became clear that there was a lack of available local resources. To deal with this gap in support services, Practice Advisor, Christian, helped professionals map out what they could do within their own organisations, but also as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
When necessary, Christian offered follow-up case consultations, in order to discuss complex subjects more in depth, such as how to engage with those in denial of their behaviours, how to address language barriers and gaining the voice of the child. Christian also offered additional support and advice on technical issues, such as MARAC processes and DASH assessments.
